The traditional approach to routine medical visits in the Netherlands hasn’t changed much in decades. Appointments are made manually, and appointment reminders are sent via regular mail to protect the individual’s privacy. In the Netherlands, care recipients can travel 30 minutes or more to the nearest medical center or hospital. When they get there, they have to check in and then spend an unknown amount of time in the waiting room—and when appointments are only made 10 minutes apart.
